Driver assistance systems and autonomous driving

One key area of application is the support of driver assistance systems and the development of autonomous vehicles. Sensors such as cameras, radar, lidar, and ultrasonic sensors enable vehicles to detect their surroundings in real time and respond accordingly.

The sensor technology in autonomous vehicles continuously scans the environment, detects other vehicles, pedestrians, and obstacles, and calculates the safest route based on the data obtained. This enables the vehicle to navigate independently and avoid accidents.

Vehicle condition monitoring

Continuous monitoring of vehicle condition is crucial for vehicle maintenance and safety. Sensors record various parameters such as engine temperature, oil level, tire pressure, emissions, and brake wear.

This means that if there is a drop in pressure, the driver is immediately informed by a warning light on the dashboard and, if necessary, directed to the nearest repair shop. Continuous monitoring of the vehicle’s condition therefore increases road safety, contributes to compliance with environmental regulations, and optimizes fuel efficiency.

Driver monitoring and comfort functionality

Sensors also contribute to improving driving comfort and monitoring the driver. For example, they detect the driver’s seat position, viewing angle, or condition.

Modern vehicles are equipped with a driver monitoring camera that tracks the driver’s gaze. If signs of fatigue or inattention are detected, the driver is warned by acoustic signals and vibrations in the steering wheel. In addition, seat sensors can detect the driver’s position and automatically adjust the seat settings to ensure maximum comfort.
